The Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center (VTCRC) is a research park established in 1985 on 230 acres adjacent to VT's main campus in Blacksburg. It houses 230+ tenant companies and 3,500+ employees across 1.25 million square feet of office and laboratory space. VTCRC also operates locations in Newport News and Roanoke.
The park provides flexible office and lab space starting at $700/month, build-to-suit options, and COgro co-working space for startups. A biotechnology incubator is under development through regional partnerships. The Entrepreneur Resource Center (opening early 2026) offers tools, mentorship, and programming for founders.
VTCRC partners with the Apex Center for the Corporate Research Center Pitch Party, a $10,000 student startup pitch competition held at Lane Stadium. Industry clusters include aerospace/defense, AV/EV transportation, electronics/sensors, materials, software, and biotech/life sciences.
