The UVA Licensing & Ventures Group (LVG) bridges the gap between research breakthroughs at the University of Virginia and marketplace impact. Located at 722 Preston Avenue in Charlottesville, LVG manages technology transfer including patent filings, trademark and copyright protection, IP portfolio management, licensing agreement negotiations, and venture creation guidance for faculty, staff, and students.
LVG manages the $10 million LVG Seed Fund, which provides early-stage capital to promising ventures emerging from UVA research. It also runs I-Corps at UVA (NSF-funded customer discovery and commercialization training), the Enterprise Studio (venture creation program), and the SPARK Tank annual pitch competition.
Notable LVG ventures include Adial Pharmaceuticals, Advaray, AgroSpheres, AMP3D, and TearSolutions.
