RED Labs is the University of Houston's flagship 12-week summer startup and small business accelerator operated by the [[programs/uh-wolff-center]]. The program supports ~10 teams of UH students, faculty, or recent alumni with curriculum, mentorship, legal office hours, and a $5,000 equity-free stipend per business. RED Launch merged into RED Labs in 2024, accepting both tech startups and small businesses.

Program Structure

  • Duration: 12 weeks (mid-May through early August)
  • Stipend: $5,000 per team (no equity)
  • Eligibility: At least one UH student, faculty, or recent alum; validated customer or revenue expected
  • Support: Weekly curriculum, mentor pool, legal IP/incorporation office hours, accountability check-ins
  • Culmination: uh-bayou-startup-showcase joint demo day with Rice OwlSpark at The Ion
