The Bayou Startup Showcase is the joint culminating demo day for University of Houston [[programs/uh-red-labs]] and Rice University's OwlSpark summer accelerators at The Ion Houston. For more than a decade, this cross-university event has brought together UH and Rice founders, mentors, and investors — drawing 500+ attendees annually. Both universities have been ranked among the nation's best entrepreneurship programs by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine for six consecutive years.

The 12th annual showcase was held July 31, 2025 at The Ion (4201 Main St). RED Labs Class 13 featured nine ventures; OwlSpark's 2025 cohort included 11 companies. Programs run at The Ion during the summer before the joint showcase.
