Marist Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Business incubator and innovation center located at 51 Fulton Street (Fulton Technology CrossRoad) on Marist University's east campus. Provides 25,000 sq ft of office/incubation space for technology-based small and medium businesses, with high-speed network connections, cloud computing resources, and data center access.

Funded by a $1.5M Empire State Development grant as part of a $15.8M project. The building (45,000 sq ft total) was purchased in 2013 and renovated to house the center. Opened ~summer 2018. Located within Marist's Science and Research area, near the $33M Science and Allied Health Building.

The center is linked to Marist's NYS Cloud Computing and Analytics Center ($3M, 2012) and the Institute for Data Center Professionals, providing tenants with access to advanced computing and analytics capabilities.

Assessment

Marist has invested significantly in physical incubation infrastructure ($15.8M project, 25,000 sq ft of dedicated space). However, tenant outcomes, startup graduates, and current occupancy rates are not documented in available sources. The center is more of a technology-focused business park than a programmatic accelerator with mentorship and funding components.

Evidence

Westfair Communications article (May 3, 2016) confirms the grant, budget, timeline, and strategic rationale. Marist spokesman Greg Cannon is quoted describing the center's purpose: helping area businesses "better utilize and leverage technology." The center was also positioned to support potential Start-Up New York participation.
