Funding and Equity

The central funding stack combines non-dilutive grant support (Startup Grant Works), proof-of-concept awards (TAF grants), and equity-like early-stage investments (TAF Catalyst Investments via convertible note or SAFE). TAF reported $4.1 million deployed to 83 innovations since 2011, leveraging $17 million in follow-on funding. The 2025 S4 Catalyst track offered up to two investments of $50,000 each.

System-wide programs (S4, CxO, Venture Advisors, Grant Works, Design Studio, Pitch Lab, webinars) do not take equity for participation. Equity-like terms apply only to selected TAF Catalyst Investments.

Recent Activity

As observed June 22, 2026, the S4 program is actively running its 2026 cycle with scheduled webinars through June and Demo Day on July 28, 2026. TAF and the supporting programs remain listed on the current RF SUNY technology-to-market page.
