The Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation bridges the gap between research and commercialization for MIT faculty-led projects. Founded 2002 with a gift from Desh and Jaishree Deshpande. Based in MIT School of Engineering. $23M granted to 211 projects, producing 62 spinout companies. Provides Ignition Grants, Innovation Grants (up to $250K cumulative), Momentum Grants, and Climate Project Momentum Grants (up to $125K). Catalyst mentorship program. Notable spinout: Gradiant (Series E at $2B valuation). The NSF I-Corps model was inspired by the Deshpande Center.
