The Gene T. Aman Pirate Challenge (APC) is ECU's signature pitch competition and the richest in North Carolina. Established 2018, renamed 2024 after $3.2M gift from Helen Aman and family. Three-round format across the academic year. Open to all ECU students. Awarded over $900K in cash/prizes since inception (surpassed $1M in 2025). 2026 finals featured $240K+ in cash and in-kind services. Past winners: Campus Cribs (2025, $20K), Limulus (2024, $15K).
