Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is the state's flagship R1 public research university. Its entrepreneurship ecosystem spans three campuses and multiple layers: student pitch competitions (ScarletPitch, RBS BPC), urban entrepreneurship centers (CUEED in Newark), active tech transfer and commercialization (Innovation Ventures, annual Showcase), a sophisticated student-run VC program (Rutgers VIP with top-tier firm partnerships), and an external alumni investment community (Rutgers Ventures by Whiteboard Venture Partners). Rutgers also hosts the statewide UPitchNJ collegiate competition.
