Official LIU Headlines announcement of the AI² Center (Artificial Intelligence & Academic Innovation Center), launched May 2026. Led by Mohammed Cherkaoui, PhD, SVP for Research and AI.

• University-wide AI/innovation center spanning 150+ academic programs
• Led by Mohammed Cherkaoui, PhD (top 1% of scientists worldwide)
• Bachelor's, master's, doctoral degrees in AI
• Nation's first Bachelor of Engineering in Digital Engineering
• AI Competency Distinction: 9-credit credential
• Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE Education Center of Excellence partnership
• 40,000 sq ft science building (Post) and 20,000 sq ft 3D labs (Brooklyn)
• Postdoctoral fellow mentorship and open studio hours

• Center is very new (May 2026); no operational outcomes yet
• Focus is AI education and research, not startup incubation
• No venture funding or accelerator programming tied to the center
