Application and Timing
Information sessions are held each October. Fall is for ideas and teams, winter for workshops and mentors, and spring for the competition. The overview says promising teams can continue in The Garage through G2.
Participants
Undergraduate and graduate students from all academic disciplines. The student-information page says a team is needed to enter the competition, that students do not need a pre-formed idea or team, and that fall mixers are used to form teams. No course credit is awarded for the program itself.
Funding and Equity
The program page says each year up to $40,000 in cash, startup grants, and in-kind services are awarded. It does not split that figure. Equity terms are not stated. The recorded maximum is the published annual award pool, which mixes cash and in-kind support.
Recent Activity
The New Venture page was live on October 8, 2026, and invites current students to fall information sessions.
Known Startups or Winners
The page says more than 70 startups have launched from the competition and have raised over $1.2 billion. It names Nectir AI, co-founded by 2019 NVC finalist Kavitta Ghai, and says that company has raised more than $15 million at a $50 million valuation.
