Launch USA

About the program · 1 linked sources

Launch USA is the Melton Center program for University of South Alabama teams and individuals developing a business idea. The page says up to six teams are selected for a boot camp covering intellectual property, business formation, digital marketing, market research, and nonprofit formation, followed by mentorship at the Innovation Portal. Teams then pitch in a regional competition against other Gulf Coast collegiate teams.

The page says participation in the spring session and summer sessions is in person. A person may submit one idea and join one team. A team selected the prior year cannot resubmit the same idea. Parents of current students may join only if the student is an integral part of the team.

    Application and Timing

The page says the deadline to apply is Friday, April 3, and it links a 2026 application. The FAQ on the same page says to stay tuned for 2026 program dates and that an application will be posted once dates are released. Both statements were on the page when it was captured.

    Participants

South Alabama students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as teams or individuals. The FAQ also describes the program as help for student teams. It does not limit entry to undergraduates.

    Funding and Equity

Each team can receive a stipend totaling $5,000, contingent on milestones. The regional pitch offers a chance at a portion of a $50,000 purse. The page does not publish the purse split. The $5,000 figure stored as the maximum is the stated stipend, not a claim that a team can receive only that amount from the purse. Equity terms are not stated.

    Recent Activity

The page was live on 2026-10-08 with the 2026 application language and the FAQ caveat above.
