Seton Hall University has a mature entrepreneurship ecosystem anchored by the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) in the Stillman School of Business, founded in 2003 by director Susan Scherreik (ROI-NJ Top 10 Entrepreneurship Influencer 2022, President's Award 2024, Innovate 100 Leader 2025). The CIE has raised $2.15M+ since inception and runs a structured venture pipeline: Pirates Pitch Startup Competition ($16K total, $8K top prize, 16th annual in 2026) feeding into the Pirates LaunchPad Summer Accelerator (8 weeks, up to $2K per venture, 7th cohort in 2026). The CIE also founded and administers UPITCHNJ (statewide collegiate competition in partnership with Nokia Bell Labs) and hosts a large high school outreach competition ($50K+ in cash/scholarships, 320+ applicants from 22 states & 6 countries). Seton Hall is the first Associate member of the NSF I-Corps Northeast Hub, providing research commercialization training with $1.5K-$305K funding pathways.
